The Punjab government has waived loans of about Rs 41.48 crore of 10,151 Scheduled Caste (SC) youth. Minister in the state government, Sadhu Singh Dharamsot said on Sunday that the government has taken this decision in view of the problems faced by these youth in repaying loans due to the Kovid-19 epidemic and various circumstances.

The state government’s statement said, “The public friendly action of the state government has brought great relief to the youth of the SC community.” The Minister of Social Justice, Empowerment and Minority Affairs, Punjab said that the Punjab Government has decided to waive loans up to Rs.

Low interest loans to disabled youth
Dharamsot said that this loan corporation has given loans to SC and differently-abled youth at low interest. He said that such youth of the state were not able to pay the loans taken for self-employment due to failure in business, death of the beneficiary, no earner in the house and circumstances arising due to Kovid-19. The minister said that the government decided to do loan waiver to these youths to get rid of this problem.
