PL: Roman Abramovich, his lethal weapon remains at Chelsea

The sale of Chelsea by Roman Abramovich to businessman Todd Boehly should be finalized at the end of the month.

It’s the end of a never-ending soap opera for Chelsea supporters, who have gone through all the emotions in recent weeks as their club boss Roman Abramovich has been the target of sanctions from several countries around the world because of of his closeness to Vladimir Putin. Since the invasion of Ukraine by Russia, the Russian oligarchs are sanctioned and Roman Abramovich was forced to sell Chelsea. This thorny case is coming to an end with the sale of the Blues to American businessman Todd Boehly in a deal reaching the sum of 4.25 billion pounds sterling. This sale still needs to be approved by the Premier League as well as the British government, which should be the case by the end of the month.

Marina Granovskaia remains at Chelsea

The future organization of the Chelsea club will necessarily be closely scrutinized but according to information from the Daily Mail, we should not expect major upheavals at the Blues. From a purely sporting point of view, nothing will be affected for the moment. Thomas Tuchel, who has done a tremendous job at Chelsea since his arrival from Paris Saint-Germain, will logically be kept in his post. Regarding the management of the club, a faithful Roman Abramovich will stay with the Blues to everyone’s surprise. Indeed, the British tabloid affirms that Marina Granovskaia will always be the director of Chelsea, a role which she already occupied under Roman Abramovich with unanimous support within the London club. President of Chelsea since 2004, Bruce Buck should also stay in place, which shows how much Todd Boehly does not want to turn everything upside down despite the change of ownership with the hasty departure of Roman Abramovich. Undoubtedly reassuring news for Chelsea supporters, who have been sufficiently worried about the future of their club in recent weeks.
