Director Peter Jackson made film history with his work on the original Lord of the Rings trilogy.
However, the filmmaker is not involved in any way with The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, an Amazon Prime Video series.
Speaking to the Hollywood Reporter’s podcast, Peter Jackson said he initially received an invitation from Amazon to work on the show.
Director did not reach agreement with Amazon
The director, however, demanded that he have access to the material before accepting the proposal. After that, Amazon never returned.
“They asked me if I would like to be involved. I said I couldn’t answer until I read the script.”
“They told me they had some scripts and would send them to me. But those scripts never showed up.”
“That was the last I heard from them, which is good. No complaints,” admitted the director of the original Lord of the Rings trilogy.
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power hits Amazon Prime Video on September 2.
