‘Peacemaker’: Producer Explains Why The Series Is The Perfect Derivative Of ‘The Suicide Squad’

The series of ‘Pacifier‘ arrived today in the catalog of HBO Max and follows the story of Christopher Smith (John Cena) after the events of ‘The Suicide Squad‘.

During an interview for the Comic Book, the producer Peter Saffron explained why the character’s backstory is the perfect spinoff for the Task Force X movie.

“I think we love the idea that the character introduced in ‘The Suicide Squad’ didn’t have a significant arc over the course of the movie, unlike Bloodthirsty and Ratcat 2. Both had an evolution in the plot, but Smith was pretty consistent. ”

He continued:

“The Peacemaker, as he is also known, is extremely toxic in the film, and James wanted to explore his origins and how he could evolve over the course of a season. So that’s why it was so exciting to do this show. What’s more, the opportunity to work with John Cena again was amazing because he gave an extraordinary performance in the film, and we knew he could deliver so much more depth, humor and dramatic skills in a TV show. So being able to explore that in eight episodes was really a joy and the best way to continue the story of ‘The Suicide Squad’ immediately.”

No Rotten Tomatoes, the series won 90% approval, as noted 7.40/10 based on 20 reviews until the moment. International pundits praised the show’s parodic tone and the cast’s performance, although they pointed out some flaws.
