Overview: These players from the Belgian league leave for Qatar for the World Cup

Knock Knock. Who’s at the door? The World Cup in Qatar, and 24 players from the Belgian league will have known that!

The Jupiler Pro League (and by extension even the Challenger Pro League) will be well represented at the World Cup in Qatar, which will be kicked off on Sunday. A total of 24 players from the Belgian football leagues are leaving for the World Cup. Those players are divided over no fewer than twelve clubs. The largest supplier of players is Club Brugge, as they supply eight players.

At Club Brugge there are no less than eight players who will go to the World Cup. At the Red Devils we count on Simon Mignolet and Hans Vanaken. Whether they will play much is still highly doubtful. Two players from Club Brugge will also join Ghana, namely Denis Odoi and Kamal Sowah. The Canadians, opponent of the Belgians at the World Cup, also calls on two players from blue-black. So we meet Tajon Buchanan and Cyle Larin at the World Cup during our first game.

At Antwerp they also have three internationals who will represent their country at the World Cup in Qatar. Toby Alderweireld must provide certainty and experience in the defense of the Red Devils. Louis Van Gaal takes striker Vincent Janssen to Qatar and finally William Pacho also goes with Ecuador. Pacho will be joined by Genk player Angelo Preciado, who also made the Ecuador selection. Bilal El Khannouss (Morocco) and Gerardo Arteaga (Mexico) are also representatives from Genk. Anderlecht is the only team to deliver two players. The Red Devils can count on two in defense purple-white players, namely the young Zeno Debast and the experienced Jan Vertonghen.

8 clubs with one international each

In addition to Denis Odoi and Kamal Sowah, two more Pro League players have been selected for Ghana. Elisha Owusu from KAA Gent and Manaf Nurudeen from Eupen will also join the Ghanaian selection for Qatar. Tajon Buchanan & Cyle Larin are joined by a Challenger Pro League player. The Canadian national coach chose that Liam Fraser of SK Deinze can go to the World Cup. Bilal El Khannouss, in turn, can count on Selim Amallah from Standard for Morocco.

Finally, Japan is counting on STVV goalkeeper Daniel Schmidt and Ayase Ueda from Cercle Brugge. They also have a player at the World Cup at Charleroi, namely Ale Gholizadeh at Iran. Finally, Samuel Oum Gouet from KV Mechelen will also go to Qatar with Cameroon. The teams that are not represented at the World Cup are Union, Westerlo, OH-Leuven, Cercle Brugge, KV Oostende, Zulte Waregem, Kortrijk and Seraing.
