Opener Shikhar Dhawan, who has been sidelined from the T20 World Cup team, has started his preparations for the second half of IPL 2021 in Dubai. Dhawan is playing for Delhi Capitals in IPL.
Shikhar, the left-handed batsman with the highest run-scorer in the current IPL season, recently led Team India on the tour of Sri Lanka but did not find a place in the 15-man Indian squad for the T20 World Cup 2021. The World Cup will be held in UAE and Oman this year.
Dhawan on Friday shared a video on his Instagram account in which he is seen practicing batting. He wrote the caption of the video, ‘Soorma.’ Punjabi song is playing in the background of the video. Seeing this video of Dhawan, a fan wrote in the comment box, ‘We will miss you in the World Cup.’ Another user wrote, ‘Gabbar is back.’
Dhawan scored the highest 380 runs in 8 matches in the first half of IPL 2021. During this his batting average was more than 54. He scored runs at a strike rate of over 134. Shikhar also scored 3 half-centuries.
Mumbai Indians batsman Ishan Kishan has also been selected in the opener team for the T20 World Cup. Ishaan can also play in the team as a wicketkeeper. It was believed that Dhawan could be included in the team as a backup opener but the selection committee decided to keep him out.
