A key element of Jorge Sampaoli’s team, Cengiz Under will play for Olympique de Marseille again next year. The Turkish international has revealed his intentions for the rest of his career.
Cengiz Under is clearly one of the great moves made by Pablo Longoria last summer. Placed on the transfer list by José Mourinho upon his arrival at AS Roma, the Turkish international has bounced back to OM after an unconvincing season on loan from Leicester. But in the south of France, Cengiz Under has already convinced everyone, especially his coach, Jorge Sampaoli, who considers him an indisputable holder. The winger scored 7 goals and delivered 1 assist in 21 games played and 18 starts. Above all, he shook the opposing nets in very important moments. It was he, for example, who scored the saving goal at Matmut Atlantique, ending the 43-year-old curse of the Marseillais in Bordeaux. Cengiz Under likes Marseille and intends to stay. He declared his love for OM and Jorge Sampaoli at the microphone of Telefoot this Sunday.

“It’s a pride to play here. I want to bring the best to OM, put this club back in the place it deserves, help OM replay the Champions League. I want to stay here 100%. Everyone agrees that I continue the adventure here. We will all talk about it together very soon (…) Jorge Sampaoli is one of the reasons why I came to Marseille I am very happy to evolve under his orders and I hope it will continue for many years”, assured Cengiz Under. Pablo Longoria has only exercised the option to buy the Turk, set at 8.4 ME with Roma, automatic if OM stays. So it’s only a matter of time.
