OM: Mandanda takes radical decision before transfer window

In mid-December, Steve Mandanda requested a meeting with Jorge Sampaoli to learn about his role during the second part of the season at OM.

The content of the discussions between Steve Mandanda and Jorge Sampaoli has not leaked. One thing is however certain, the French international is no longer the holder as goalkeeper at Olympique de Marseille. Indeed, it is Pau Lopez who plays this role, at least for the matches of Ligue 1. While waiting to know the playing time of Steve Mandanda and its possible use during the matches of Coupe de France and Conference League , the Marseille goalkeeper had every intention of studying the offers that would be submitted to him during the transfer window. It does not officially open its doors until January 1, but according to L’Equipe, there is no longer much chance that Steve Mandanda will leave OM during the winter transfer window.

Mandanda not convinced by the offers received

And for good reason, the national daily affirms that Steve Mandanda received the first offers during this winter period. But nothing very foolish for the emblematic captain of the Olympique de Marseille, who refuses to leave to leave and who does not wish to embark on a galley project in the middle of the season. A departure for Saint-Etienne, which was imagined by some observers a few weeks ago, is therefore unlikely. The tendency is rather for Steve Mandanda to stay at OM and fight to get as much playing time as possible, even if it will be difficult to turn back with Pau Lopez, firmly installed in Olympian goals by Jorge Sampaoli . The Spaniard, loaned with an option to buy from AS Roma, should also be permanently transferred to Marseille as he played the 20 matches after which his option to buy, between 12 and 15 million d euros, became automatic.
