Marvel fans are eager to see what director James Gunn comes up with in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, which will act as a farewell to this cosmic team lineup. That said, an actress doesn’t mind returning to the MCU after this film.
It’s unclear if the entire team will be saying goodbye to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but Gamora actress Zoe Saldaña recently said she wouldn’t be disappointed if she didn’t return after the next film.
When asked by Variety if she would want to return to the role, Saldaña said she would have a hard time saying no, but she wouldn’t miss the extensive green makeup that goes into Gamora’s look.
“I can never say no to anything but that green makeup? I wouldn’t be upset if it didn’t happen again,” said the actress.
The star went on to say that her alien look required hours in the makeup chair and countless trips to the dermatologist.
“I miss Gamora, but I don’t miss the 3:30 am phone calls and five-hour makeup sessions and trips to the dermatologist afterwards,” the actress added.
Actress recognizes the positive side of acting in the MCU
But Saldaña explained that the effort is always worth it when she sees how important the character is to audiences, adding that younger fans shouldn’t be written off.
“Every time an 8-year-old or that mom and dad or those generational fans remind me that what I did was special to them, it makes me not be cynical about Marvel. It makes me understand that the younger audience should not be neglected”,
Saldaña pointed out that while some might look down on the MCU, that doesn’t negate the fact that it’s special to some audiences.
Guardians of the Galaxy, containing two of the team’s films in the MCU, is heading towards the conclusion of the story created by creative James Gunn and his varied career.
The third film in the franchise had little information released, in addition to rumors about the possible villain.
Guardians of the Galaxy 3 hits theaters on May 5, 2023.
