Seoul, January 11, 2022 – La North Korea it again challenged international resolutions by launching a hypersonic ballistic missile, and it did so after a few hours earlier, six countries, including the US and Japan, invited it to cease its “destabilization actions” on the sidelines of the UN meeting.
But Pyongyang responded, Seoul observers said, with the launch of an “unidentified bullet” into the sea in the eastern part of the peninsula, the second in a week, the North Korean authorities confirm. The missile flew for over 700 km at a maximum altitude of 60 km and a maximum speed of Mach 10, which is 10 times the speed of sound.
The Seoul Joint Staff Command now wants to understand if it is “an improved model compared to that of January 5”, or a second test. However, for the South Korean army, Pyongyang’s activities are a “clear” violation of resolutions of the UN Security Council.
