Netflix leaves nothing to chance. The streaming giant is said to be producing two sequels to the hit song “Red Notice.” And all the stars should return.
Seriously, what could have gone wrong when Black Adam, Wonder Woman and Green Lantern… sorry, Deadpool are on camera together? Dwayne Johnson, Gal Gadot and Ryan Reynolds: Three of today’s biggest Hollywood stars in one film? The hit was almost programmed. Nevertheless, it was quite a gamble for Netflix when the company took over the film “Red Notice” from Universal, because the estimated budget of at least 200 million US dollars does not even shake the top dog from Los Gatos, California, who is used to success Sleeve.
But the calculation worked: “Red Notice” is (still) the most successful Netflix film ever. In the battle for streaming supremacy, you need exactly one thing: successful content that is well received by subscribers. So it is not surprising that Deadline wants to know that Netflix is planning not just one more, but two more sequels. Part 2 and Part 3 of “Red Notice” should therefore be shot back-to-back, i.e. one after the other. The team, led by director Rawson Marshall Thurber, hopes to start production in early 2023. According to information, Thurber has already started writing the screenplays. So if all goes well, fans could expect the first of the two sequels in 2024, if not both within a few months.

How smoothly everything can go depends primarily on the stars Johnson, Gadot and Reynolds. The three are actually up to their necks in film projects: Johnson is still working on “Black Adam” and is also planning a Christmas adventure with “Red One”, “San Andreas 2” and “Jungle Cruise 2”. Gadot is preparing for her big role as Cleopatra and wants to shoot “Wonder Woman 3” soon and has just been confirmed for the remake of the Alfred Hitchcock classic “Over the Rooftops of Nice”. Meanwhile, Reynolds is planning to take a break from acting to spend time with his family. And then there’s still Deadpool 3. The mercenary with the kodder snout finally gets an adult film in his MCU debut as well.
In addition to the three main actors, completely new characters will also be introduced to give the trilogy a touch of “Ocean’s Eleven”. Not a bad goal given the status Steven Soderbergh’s Heist trilogy enjoys today. And you can see which films and series the editors celebrated in 2021 in the video.
“Red Notice 2” and “Red Notice 3” in a row: Exactly as director Thurber wants it
Netflix’s plans are pretty much what director Thurber envisioned. The filmmaker had already faced off last November The Hollywood Reporter let it be known that should the opportunity arise, he intends to do two more films in a row:
“I think that’s a real possibility. If I were to do a sequel, the only right thing would be to do parts 2 and 3 back-to-back. It’s such a huge production and if you can do it at the same time it would be better for everyone. Including my mental health.”[display-posts orderby="rand"]
The 46-year-old apparently got what he wanted. If things continue to run smoothly, Netflix subscribers can look forward to more action-packed adventures starring their favorite heroes.
