- Manchester Test called off shortly before toss
- This step was taken due to the outbreak of Corona in the Indian Camp
- Indian team leads 2-1 in 5 match test series
Former England captain Michael Vaughan says that the Manchester Test was canceled due to the Indian Premier League (IPL 2021). The 5th and final Test match of the series between India and England was canceled due to the outbreak of Corona in Team India’s camp.
Vaughan wrote on his official Twitter handle on Saturday, ‘IPL teams are flying in chartered planes. There will be a mandatory quarantine in the UAE for 6 days. And from 7th day IPL will start!!! Can someone tell me that there could be some other reason other than IPL to cancel the Test.
Amidst the fear of Kovid-19, the 5th Test between India and England (India vs England 5th Test) was declared canceled after all the uproar. Cricket fans will be disappointed due to such an end to the series running at the peak of adventure. The Indian team was ahead in the series 2-1 and was also a contender for victory in the Manchester Test.
Former Indian team all-rounder Irfan Pathan has tried to give a befitting reply to Vaughan in gestures. Irfan tweeted under the hashtag Easytarget (#easytarget), ‘If I lost my tooth, should I blame the IPL?’
Earlier in a column for The Telegraph, Vaughan said, “To be honest, it’s all about money and the IPL. The test has been canceled as the players must be fearing the risk of corona infection and missing out on the IPL. In a week we will watch IPL and players will run around smiling and happy. But they should have relied on the PCR test.
Team India will play ODI and T20 series on England tour next year
The Indian team will tour England next year where they have to play a series of 3 T20s and as many ODIs. It is expected that on the same tour, perhaps the Indian team will play this test match. However, no official statement has come from the BCCI or ECB regarding this yet.
