The current Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) continues to take shape. Several upcoming titles are currently in the making and thanks to Disney + Day we have now for the first time received official confirmation for five more Marvel series on the streaming service. Two of them should surprise the fans in particular.

Don’t miss the big MCU preview at Disney + with teasers for “Moon Knight”, “She-Hulk” and “Ms. Marvel “

A total of twelve Marvel series were presented on Disney +, provided that a season extension is included. Here you will first find the ones that fans have been expecting for some time, as they had just been announced before and most of them only received new logos:

  • „Moon Knight“: Oscar Isaac becomes Marc Spector aka Moon Knight, a Marvel hero with personality disorder.
  • „She-Hulk“: Here we get to know Jennifer Walters (Tatiana Maslany), the cousin of Bruce Banner / Hulk, who in turn can transform into She-Hulk.
  • „Ms. Marvel“: The series debut of the first Muslim MCU heroine Kamala Khan alias Ms. Marvel (Iman Vellani) will now officially only come in the summer of 2022.
  • „Ironheart“: Riri Williams (Dominique Thorne) aka Ironheart, practically Iron Man’s successor, gets her own series after her first MCU appearance in “Black Panther 2: Wakanda Forever”.
  • „I Am Groot“: In a series of short adventures, Marvel darling Groot shows himself with some new and quite unusual characters.
  • „Secret Invasion“: Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) and Talos (Ben Mendelsohn) have to confront a group of Skrulls who have infiltrated high circles in the MCU with their skills as shapeshifters.
  • „Marvel’s What If…?“ Staffel 2: The animation series, which presents parallel worlds and alternative scenarios, goes into the second round.

Some other previously announced series such as “Armor Wars”, a Wakanda project and of course “Loki” Season 2, however, played no role at Disney + Day. We will probably have to wait longer for these titles.

News from the X-Men and Spider-Man

A truly surprising gift awaits Marvel fans in 2023: The much-acclaimed animated series “X-Men” from the 90s is returning at Disney +! New stories await you there under the title “X-Men ’97”, but they will be located in the universe of the original. Even if Marvel Studios produce the sequel, “X-Men ’97” is therefore not an official part of the MCU – although that could easily be changed by the multiverse.

Also out of nowhere was an animation series named for Peter Parker „Spider-Man: Freshman Year“ announced:

This series is part of the MCU and probably shows us Peter Parker before his time as Spider-Man, as we can see from the information on Marvel.com. Accordingly, we will see him here more as a student, because the plot is obviously set before his first appearance in “The First Avenger: Civil War” and accordingly also before “Spider-Man: Homecoming”. After all, the first year of high school is known as the “Freshman Year”. Accordingly, we could learn how Peter and his best friend Ned got to know each other and of course get new insights into the private life of the wall crawler.

It is currently unclear whether “Spider-Man: Freshman Year” also shows us directly how Peter Parker became Spider-Man, whether Tom Holland will take over his role again and when the series will appear. After all, we know that the style of the series is based on earlier Spider-Man comics, which should certainly please fans in particular. The MCU stars also had some reason to be happy during the filming, as our video proves:

Streaming tips of the week: tick, tick … boom! and more

The Marvel Zombies return to Disney +

The other project, however, looks like the answer to the zombie episode in “Marvel’s What If …?”. Because this series brings back the undead, like the title „Marvel Zombies“ already reveals:

Marvel Studios is also responsible for production here, but it is unclear whether the series is really located in the MCU. Marvel.com says that the animated series will reinvent the Marvel universe as a new generation of superheroes battles a spreading zombie plague. “Marvel Zombies” has less to do with the well-known MCU, but thanks to the multiverse, the series could at least take place in a parallel world. With this project, too, it is still unclear when we can expect us at Disney +.

Echo and Agatha Harkness officially get series

In addition to some new logos and – as mentioned at the beginning – some teasers for upcoming series, we also received official confirmations for two further series for the first time at Disney + Day. However, this had already been reported in advance, which is why we only want to present them briefly here.

Which is a series „Agatha: House of Harkness“ about the witch from “WandaVision” played by Kathryn Hahn, who rose to become a fan favorite. This is also noticeable in the social media: “Agatha: House of Harkness” received by far the most likes on Instagram of all the projects mentioned at Disney + Day. It currently has a good 160,000 likes, second place goes to “Spider-Man: Freshman Year” with 94,000 likes.

And then there would be „Echo“, a series about the superhero of the same name, embodied by Maya Lopez for the first time in “Hawkeye”. She is a deaf figure, with which the MCU after Makkari (Lauren Ridloff) in “Eternals” does more for its diversity and representation in this area as well:

In the case of the last-mentioned series, it is also still unclear when exactly they will appear on Disney +. Since the calendar seems to be quite full and they have only just been confirmed, as with “X-Men ’97” we should not expect the other four projects to be published until 2023 – if at all.
