Lisandro Martínez receives a lot of praise from teammate Cristiano Ronaldo. The Argentinian defender has been playing for Manchester United since this season, after he left Ajax last summer for an adventure in the Premier League. The defender has become one of the crowd’s favorites within six months.
Ronaldo tells in a remarkable interview with TalkTV that Martínez is one of the few players who behaves like a true professional. Because of this controversial interview, coach Erik ten Hag has indicated that he does not want to continue with the Portuguese superstar.
The former Real-Madrid and Juventus player says that the mentality at Manchester United is no longer the same as in his earlier period at the club. ‘The hunger is gone. They can get everything easily these days. They don’t have to suffer for it anymore.’
Ronaldo himself says that he still has the required mentality. ‘I want to be the example myself. I’m probably the first person in the club every day and the last to leave. I think the numbers speak for themselves. Sometimes someone follows me in my extra work, but not often,” Ronaldo continues.
The superstar does see that players like Martínez and Diogo Dalot have everything to reach the absolute top. “Dalot is perhaps an example at the club. I have no doubt that he will make it to the top. And a few more. One of them is Martinez. Young, professional and determined,” said Ronaldo.
