Marianne Vos will make her comeback on Sunday in the Italian one-day race Trofeo Alfredo Binda. It will be her first race of the year on the road. The 35-year-old Dutch interrupted her cyclocross season in January due to a physical discomfort and, as a result, skipped the World Cup in Hoogerheide, among other things. Vos was treated last month for a narrowing of her pelvic artery.

“The treatment went well and, as hoped, I was able to get back on the bike ten days later and resume training. Now the first road race is just around the corner”, said Vos from the Spanish island of Tenerife, where she has been preparing for her comeback. “The Trofeo Alfredo Binda is a race I like to ride. The first game of the season always brings some extra jitters.”
According to her Jumbo-Visma team, Vos mainly focuses on the competitions in the spring. She also appears at the start of Dwars door Vlaanderen and the Ronde van Vlaanderen.
The Trofeo Alfredo Binda, in the Italian province of Varese, is a race over 139 kilometers with ten climbs.
