Actor Gabriel Leone, 29, is being quoted to play champion Ayrton Senna in a series directed by Vicente Amorim that is being prepared by Netflix.
According to the column by Patrícia Kogut, from the newspaper O Globo, the negotiations advanced and the actor became the best option after Chay Suede, the most quoted until then to live the pilot, renewed his contract with Globo due to the novel Travessia.
Produced by Gullane, the series will have eight episodes and is being produced together with Ayrton Senna’s family.
Still according to the publication, the starting point of the plot will be the driver’s move to England to compete in the F1600. The series will also show some places where Senna lived, like the house where he spent his childhood, in São Paulo.
Gabriel Leone participated in A Grande Família, in 2013, and in the same year he was cast in Malhação Casa Cheia. After that he participated in several TV Globo productions, including Velho Chico, Verdades Secretas and Onde Nascem os Fortes. In cinema, he played King Roberto Carlos in the film Minha Fama de Mau and was also in Eduardo e Mônica and Alemão 2.
