Logan and Deadpool launch on Disney+ sparks controversy

Logan and Deadpool were the last FOX productions with Marvel characters. In the United States, the purchase of the studio by Disney recently resulted in the inclusion of the films on Disney+, which has generated controversy for streaming.

Mutant movies are R-rated. The promise at the launch of the platform in the US was a family service with free productions for all audiences.

Continues after advertising

Parents Council on Television and Media (PTC) President Tim Winter slammed streaming: “Three years ago, the Walt Disney Company made a promise to families: No R-rated movies on Disney+, they said. . It’s a family-focused platform, they said. We have Hulu for our boldest adult content, they said. Turns out they were lying to us” (via comic book).

In the press release, Winter highlighted how damaging this is to Disney’s image in the United States: “After decades of corporate brilliance establishing itself as the world’s most trusted brand for families, today’s Disney three-star suite decided to play everything down the drain”.

In Brazil, both productions are in Star+. Recently, the Netflix series in partnership with Marvel, known as the Defenders universe, entered Disney+ nationally, similar to the situation of Deadpool and Logan in the US.

Deadpool 1 and 2 are available on Star+ in Brazil
