The French will vote on June 12 and 19, 2022 to determine the policy for the coming five-year term. In addition to the assessors, who are increasingly difficult to find, each polling station needs citizens present during the counting on election night.
The June 12 and 19, 2022French citizens are called upon to cast their ballot in the ballot box once again, in order to decide on the majority in the National Assembly. In the evening, around 8 p.m., we will have an overview of the number of candidates for each party, but some have the possibility of knowing it before the official results, during the counting in the polling stations from the country. Anyone can attend, and here’s what you need to know about this notable election event.
The count means “all the operations allowing, in a polling station, to count the ballot papers and to announce the results of an election“. Participating in the counting process is therefore a citizen act, performed in public. All voters have the right to attend and take part, as long as they report to the assessors, during or after their vote. They are then called tellers and are present with the members of the polling station.
The counting rules are strictto guarantee an absence of cheating, and the good count ballot papers. This begins with checking the number of signatures, because the number of signatures of voters must necessarily correspond to the number of ballots in the ballot box. The envelopes must then be counted and divided into blocks of 100. Finally, the scrutineers open the envelopes in groups of four people and count the votes for each candidate as well as the blank and invalid ballots.
When the scrutineers have finished counting all the envelopes, they sign the score sheet, then a report is finally drawn up to formalize the results of the polling station. You can report to your office until closing this evening at 7 p.m., in small towns, and 8 p.m., in Paris in particular.
