Le Chant des Forêts, the free exhibition of the Maif Social Club

This place of life is the source of many myths and beliefs… Venture between the trees and let yourself be carried away by the Song of the Forests, the free exhibition to discover at the Maif Social Club from October 1, 2022 to July 22, 2023 .

There are many animals, an exceptional ecosystem, a constantly renewed life… It is also the place where druids, spirits, witches, fairies, elves, demons and other mystical creatures have taken up residence. A place that can be as wonderful as it is horrifying, the setting for thousands of stories, and the focus of the new exhibition of the Maif Social Club.

From October 1, 2022 to July 22, 2023, we therefore stroll through the Song of the Foreststhe unprecedented exhibition and free to discover in the place of art of the Swamp.

A ten artists offer us a walk in the woods, to meet those who live there. From the Amazon to the forest of Brocéliande, through the centuries, peoples and civilizations follow one another in these forests. A whole life is organized around this ecosystem, which is gradually disappearing today due to environmental disasters and industrial exploitation. The forest then becomes a place of fight, a symbol for the survival of peoples and the planet.

In the middle of this world of Men live the legends. Threat or refuge, asylum or tomb, the forest can have very different images in the collective imagination. This is also where our imagination can escape and invent new worlds…

For artists, the forest is an inexhaustible source of ideas. Fernand Deroussen, Emilie Faïf, Thierry Cohen, Tatiana Wolska, Fibra, Romain Bernini, Félix Blume… All the artists invited by the Maif Social Club were inspired by the forest, and came out of it with a story to tell.

This exhibition therefore takes us into the magical worlds of these creators, thanks to various works that alert all our senses. Photography, sound work composed from sounds captured in nature, marvelous installation and frightening sculptures, fairy tale decors, forest smells… All these incredibly diverse works, aided by the immersive scenographyallow us to take a real trip to the forests of the whole world.
