Laura Esquivel he carries a lot of experience on his shoulders despite being 28 years old. His early rise to fame as the protagonist in the well-remembered “Ugly Duckling” he made his career start in his childhood. Her present finds her searching for a connection between acting and music, something that happens in “Back in Patagonia”the play in which he participates from Thursday to Sunday at the Metropolitan Theater. “I always try to choose projects that have music because obviously there is something about me with music that is essential for it to exist.“be honest.
-Do you feel that you found your place in musicals?
-I tried to find in these last years what I really like to do within the environment. I always trained much more in singing, it’s what I always dedicated more time to, then acting and dancing were due to the jobs I had. Theater is something that I will always prefer over doing a series on TV, I find it exciting. I don’t know if I found my place but there I can offer everything I have and what I know.
-You recently traveled to the United States to study. Do you enjoy continuing your education?
-The study is essential for people, whatever the area. We must be training all the time about the new, there are courses, techniques that we do not know. Whenever I have the space I try to study something, it was always a search for me, to know exactly what I wanted to study, where to focus the study. It seems important to me to train, especially in the artistic field. Personally, studying is revalidating everything you know because you can’t always keep what you already know.
-Is it difficult to lead a life with a low profile when you are famous from a very young age?
-I am lucky to have a family that always brought me down to earth. They taught me that artistic work puts you on top and what you experience is wonderful, but there comes a time when that ends. They can call you back but that euphoria that you feel when you are on top of a success is going to end, for me or for many that descent was a bit of a tailspin. Today I can prioritize my family, take vacations, I am not 100% with work. I think it’s not easy to have a “normal” life in the environment if you’re exposed, I suffered a bit as a girl because I went to a restaurant that was full and they looked at me, they asked me for photos.
-Did you stop doing things because of that attention you had?
-I think it was the other way around, I directly disappeared from the artistic environment. I did not stop going out or leading a normal life, I tried to choose projects that have less exposure. I studied, I kept taking the subway, I prioritized my family and my life because in the end it is what we have. I gave more importance to daily life than to work, because I came with a little anxious head, which led to my processes.
-With everything you went through, today would you do all that tour again?
-Yes, I do not regret everything I lived, no teaching, no mistake. I am very comfortable as I am now in my life, in my present. If any part of the past had been modified, I don’t know if it would be in the same place today. I went through personal moments with anxiety that were very strong and, although I am still in the process, the process I went through taught me a lot.
