Speaking to The Direct, director Jared Stern talked a bit about DC’s League of Super-Pets’ Batman, which will be voiced by star Keanu Reeves.
“Our Batman is haunted. He’s a little lost. But he’s still Batman, and he’s an amazing superhero.”
“He has seen many things in his life. He’s the kind of guy who really needs a pet,” the director said.
Curious parallel with John Wick
Additionally, the director of DC League of Super-Pets also said that Keanu Reeves was the perfect choice for this version of Batman because of his amusing resemblance to John Wick.
While John Wick is a person haunted by the past who begins to seek revenge after his dog is killed, this Batman is also someone who finds some comfort in having a puppy.
“Keanu Reeves fits in perfectly. He had the right voice for this character who is a little lost, and who is haunted by the past.”
“But deep down, he’s just a good guy who needs a dog,” concluded the director of DC League of Super-Pets.
The animated DC League of Super-Pets hits theaters on July 28, 2022.
