On his Instagram account, Todd Phillips shared a short video to announce the release date of “Joker: Folie à deux”. Images which confirm the presence of Lady Gaga in the credits, and which suggest that she should embody Harley Quinn.
Joker Madness for two : a musical suite
When released in 2019, Joker was a huge success, garnering over $1 billion in worldwide revenue. Last June, Warner Bros. formalizes the sequel to Todd Phillips’ film. A second opus for which the director of very bad trip is still in control. Joaquin Phoenix takes over the role of Arthur Fleck.
In the first feature film, Fleck is a failed and sick comedian who regularly suffers humiliation. Reminiscent of the Travis Bickle of Taxi Driver and the Rupert Pupkin of The Waltz of the puppetsthis character gradually descends into murderous madness on the streets of Gotham. For his impressive composition, Joaquin Phoenix wins Oscar and Golden Globe for Best Actor.
Five years after his first appearance in the cinema, Arthur Fleck will therefore be back next year in Joker: Madness for two. And as the title suggests, he won’t be alone in this sequel which could take the form of a musical.
Lady Gaga as Harley Quinn
In a short video shared on Instagram and taken up on the official Twitter account of JokerTodd Phillips has confirmed the presence of Lady Gaga in the film. The heart visible on her cheek while the air of Cheek to Cheek sounds obviously reminds Harley Quinn tattoo. It therefore seems to confirm that the actress and singer ofA Star is Born will lend his features to the cult character. For the moment, no details have been revealed on the plot, except that the feature film should take place largely at Arkham Asylum.
In the USA, Joker: Madness for two will come out Friday, October 4, 2024. In France, it should logically land in dark rooms on October 2, 2024.
