“Joker 2” officially confirmed: Title reveals possible DC reunion

The sequel to the comic drama “Joker” has finally been confirmed. The title of the DC film has also been decided.

While the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) has consistently wowed comics fans, DC hasn’t always been so lucky. Movies like “Suicide Squad” and “Justice League” didn’t go down well everywhere. At the same time, the dark film “The Batman” with Robert Pattinson (“The Lighthouse”) was able to convince fans and critics. The 2019 drama “Joker” also appealed to most, grossing over $1 billion worldwide and leading actor Joaquin Phoenix to win an Oscar. Fans can now rejoice that “Joker 2” officially coming.

Because director Todd Phillipswho was already responsible for the first film, posted a picture of the script via Instagram:

So the sequel will be “Joker: Folie a Deux” hot, if the title on the screenplay really lasts until publication. Phillips himself, who has previously worked on various comedies such as The Hangover and War Dogs, and Scott Silver (“8 Mile”) are responsible for the script. Another picture also shows Joaquin Phoenix apparently reading the script. The actor’s return is also confirmed.

Will Harley Quinn be waiting for us in “Joker 2”?

We don’t yet know exactly what the film will be about. But the title of the sequel gives at least one clue: Folie à Deux, also known as induced delusional disorder, is a mental disorder in which an actually healthy person takes on the symptoms of a close person who is delusional. Most of them will now surely become Joker’s therapist and partner Harley Quinn think.

So far, Margot Robbie has embodied the wacky character in recent DC movies. Since Joker, like The Batman, is outside of the DC Extended Universe (DCEU), we can expect Harley Quinn to be played by a new actress if she is actually introduced in Joker 2. So there are still some unanswered questions about the sequel. The start date of the film is not yet known. But since the script is finished, the production should slowly pick up speed.
