JK Rowling has created one of the most magical franchises of all time, but her statements have often caused controversy. Now one of the movie stars explains that JK Rowling wasn’t all that involved in the filming process.
“Harry Potter” creator JK Rowling has received repeated criticism for her controversial statements on the subject of transgender people in recent years. Now one of the stars from the film series distanced himself from JK Rowling and explained in an interview The Independentthat the author wasn’t really involved in the film productions.
The star in question is Tom Felton, who appeared as Draco Malfoy in all eight Harry Potter films. As part of his recently released memoir, Beyond Magic: The Blessings and Curses of Growing Up as a Wizard, the 35-year-old actor sat down with The Independent reporter Louis Chilton to discuss the book, his involvement in the film series and… to talk about the resulting mental health problems.
During the interview, the two men also brought up JK Rowling and Tom Felton, like the film productions, distanced himself from the British author’s anti-trans views:
“First of all, I don’t know enough about the specifics of what someone said. […] I mean, the obvious things to say are that I’m pro-choice, pro-discussion, pro-human rights in general, and pro-love. And I don’t have much time for anything that doesn’t belong there. It’s also a reminder that while JK Rowling is the founder [dieser] stories, but wasn’t as much a part of the filming process as some people might think. I think I only remember seeing her on set once or twice.”

The future of the Harry Potter series
Eleven years ago, the tale of the wizard with the lightning scar came to an epic ending in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2. But now do David Zaslav, boss of Warner Bros., fans hopes for a sequel. Because how The Hollywood Reporters reported, the studio boss commented on the Plans for further Harry Potter productions. According to Zaslav, the studio wants to focus on its own franchises and, in the case of Harry Potter, want to work closely with JK Rowling in the future.
There are no more concrete plans at the moment, so a new “Harry Potter” film, if it should come to that, is still a long way off. However, if you’re interested in Harry, Ron and Hermione’s previous adventures, then we recommend Sky Q’s Sky Netflix Combo Pack, which includes all eight films plus the Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts “ can stream.
