Jean-Michel Servant’s editorial: "The ultimate challenge"

In his editorial for this Saturday, January 15, Jean-Michel Servant, deputy editor-in-chief of Midi Libre, looks back on the national strike of January 13, to protest against the health protocol put in place in schools.

This time, the street won. Put under pressure Thursday, January 13 by the mobilization in the schools, Jean-Michel Blanquer released, at the end of the evening, the means demanded for weeks by angry teachers. Masks and additional posts until July as if it were raining. Even high school graduates may be entitled, in March, just before the presidential election, to preferential treatment. Faced with such generosity, we say to ourselves that the Minister of National Education must have had his suspenders pulled up to put so many gifts in the unions’ basket. A sign that, for the executive, the opening of schools is a high priority issue. A strategic file for the Head of State who takes pride in keeping classes open, at all costs, since the first confinement. The ultimate challenge that Emmanuel Macron naturally intends to bring to fruition in April.

Jean-Michel Servant is the deputy editor-in-chief of Midi Libre.
