Who will succeed Daniel Craig? That’s the big question James Bond fans ask themselves. According to producer Barbara Broccoli, however, we still have to wait until there is an answer.
It’s been two years since that “No Time To Die” started in the cinemas after several postponements. Not only since the film started, fans have of course been asking themselves which actor can succeed Daniel Craig, who last played Agent 007 in the 25th “James Bond” film. A number of big names from the film industry have already been thrown into the ring by fans. So far, those responsible for the “James Bond” brand have been silent about a potential successor.
In a conversation with LADbible Barbara Broccoli, who produces the James Bond films with Michael G. Wilson, has admitted that production on the 26th Bond film is still waiting to get off to a good start. Accordingly, those responsible have not yet specifically dealt with Craig’s successor: “No, we have Haven’t even started casting yet. There’s not even a script.”

How long do we have to wait for the next Bond film?
That means we’ll have to wait even longer before the next installment in the action series hits theaters. Broccoli had announced back in the summer of 2022 that filming would be at least two years away. This means that the next film will probably not await us until 2026.
The main reason for this long wait is probably the fact that the character of James Bond is to be reinvented after the era of Daniel Craig. While Bond is said to continue to be male and British, we could expect a slightly more modern Agent 007. A favorite of many fans is Idris Elba (“Thor: Love and Thunder”), who, according to Broccoli, is from September 2022 Variety doesn’t have much of a chance:
“He is amazing. We love Idris. Thing is, it’s going to be a few more years. And when we cast Bond, it’s a 10-12 year commitment. Not everyone is ready for this. It was hard enough [Daniel Craig] to win for it. And he was in his early 30s at the time.”
At 50, Idris Elba is probably much too old for the role. Actors like “Spider-Man” star Tom Holland, on the other hand, are still a bit too young. “Bridgerton” star Regé-Jean Page, on the other hand, fits perfectly into the desired image of broccoli at the age of 34. In any case, we still have to be patient until Daniel Craig’s successor is announced.
