Jade Genin, who has always been immersed in the world of chocolate thanks to her father, Jacques Génin, opened her chocolate factory on avenue de l’Opéra in the 2nd arrondissement of Paris. We went to discover its chocolate candies and other exceptional chocolate creations, which we recommend, they are just to die for.

Alert to lovers of cocoa and especially good chocolate, Jade Genin opened its first store in Paris, in its name. A chocolate factory which takes place on the mythical Avenue de l’Operaoverlooking the emblematic monument of theGarnier operawhich we used to call the wedding cake.

It is therefore at 33 avenue de l’Opéra, near Cédric Grolet’s pastry shop and tea room, that you can now go to taste the creations of Jade Genin. A shop she wanted in the center of Paris and away from her father’s shops to mark her independence.

At first glance, Jade Genin was seduced by the facade of the place. The interior is not to be outdone and the crossing place, overlooking the manufacturing workshop on rue Danielle-Casanova, convinced her. The manufacturing workshop, which is visible to strollers, is connected to the shop by a curved corridor, one drawing the horizon of the other. We can thus discover the craftsmen at work, a little like the backstage image before the performance in the shop.

For her boutique, she teamed up with the designer Khalid Kolsi to create a place whose primary desire was to respect the raw material of chocolate: its magic. White and gold await you in this place inspired by the Taj Mahal and ice skating, two passions for Jade.

For Jade, chocolate is not a material like any other: “When I work with chocolate, I no longer have the notion of time passing. I forget everything, fears or regrets, appearance or futility… I abandon myself to it, completely absorbed… With chocolate, everything that constitutes me is occupied. Hands, mind and senses bend over his birth.»

Fascinated by its gifts of metamorphosis, she never ceases to observe it, from liquid to solid state, passing from matte to shiny, playing with temperatures and reflections… ” Maybe I get it ’cause he’s like me and Willy Wonka : confusing and difficult to tame! But rigorous in its madness. Chocolate knows how to go from hard as the table to fondant at will. Honestly, apart from him, who is capable of it?“.

Suddenly, a question arises: what does Jade Genin offer us in her chocolate factory? We find Paris in chocolate. Ours are the chocolates that take the shape of the Concord obelisk and the The pyramid of Louvre. The chocolate candies thus form pyramidions whose faces reflect the light, with a beautiful shine, synonymous with good chocolates. A shape that she particularly appreciates and which reminds her of a creation of her father in the shape of the Pyramid of the Louvre which had marked her in her youth.

For her chocolate candies, she uses chocolate from Xoco Gourmetan exceptional chocolate producer and roaster that can only be found in a few kitchens in Paris: La Mayan Red, from Honduras, has a taste of red fruits that is both full-bodied and fruity. A chocolate that she marries with Valrhona to soften the whole and not mask the taste of the ganaches.

And speaking of ganaches, note that these are real little flavor bombs that await you. Made without dairy products, the juice-based fruit ganaches that change texture according to the flavors, reveal all their flavors without masking. We warmly recommend the lemon whose zest is incredibly present. We also really liked the version gingerthe almond praline with green spices (anise and fennel) and tahitian vanilla.

For Christmas, let yourself be tempted by the sublime boxes which allow you to discover beautiful flavors such as chocolate fir cones which transports us to the forest. Count €15 for a box of 15 pyramidions, €36 for 45 and €65 for 90 chocolates.

Obviously, like his father, here, we advocate the quality and sincerity above all. The dyes are all natural and we forget the additivesthem conservatives, artificial flavors and flavor enhancers that will not pass the door of the workshop. At Jade Genin, we do not want to distort the quality product. Like her father, she advocates respect for the product, but by infusing it with her universe and her tastes. Candies infused with Asian spices, chocolates and floral flavors from the Orient, we haven’t finished making our taste buds travel.
