The Indiana Jones saga is coming to an end, with Harrison Ford saying goodbye to the role after more than 40 years in Indiana Jones 5. The famous adventurer now embarks on a new mission.
With the fourth film taking place in the year 1957, which sees the archaeologist versus the Soviets during the looming Nuclear War, the fifth will be set in the 1960s.
THE empire revealed a new image from the feature film, now featuring Hannibal star Mads Mikkelsen. The actor will play Voller, a former Nazi scientist working for NASA in 1969.
The actor says that Voller is a man who would like to right some past mistakes. Additionally, in the film, he will clash with Indiana Jones over their pursuit of the same item.
“He is a man who would like to right some of the wrongs of the past. There is something that can make the world a much better place to live. He would love to get his hands on it. Indiana Jones also wants to get his hands on it. And so, we have a story,” he said.

Character is inspired by a real-life Nazi scientist
Mikkelsen’s character is inspired by a scientist who helped the Nazis in real life, Wernher von Braun. Subsequently, he worked with NASA.
It’s Mikkelsen’s first role in the franchise, but it’s not the first time he’s come up against Nazism in a movie.
Also in 2008, the actor played Citronen in Flame & Citron – Os Resistência, a feature film that follows two murderers who are part of the Danish resistance against Nazi rule.
Mikkelsen is a versatile actor, and is transitioning from a villainous role in Fantastic Beasts: Secrets of Dumbledore to another villain.
Again, the Indiana Jones franchise repeats what happened in the first and third films. The saga showed the presence of the Nazis in two productions, and demonstrated that it knows how to approach the subject.
For the second time, the franchise will show an important event, which would be the Space Race, which took place during the Cold War between the years 1955 and 1975.
Furthermore, the character would be in his 80s, just as Harrison Ford himself is. The film will be set in 1969, taking the character to New York.
Mikkelsen’s character will still have an ally named Klaber, who will be played by Boyd Holbrook, from the Sandman series.
Indiana Jones 5 hits theaters on June 30, 2023.
