After losing the 1965 war and even during the war, many types of arbitrary stories were told in Pakistan. During the war, it was claimed in Pakistan that Pakistani soldiers shot down the aircraft with a simple rifle.
Pakistan has never done anything like being a good neighbor with India. Inversely since Partition, whenever he got the opportunity, he used terrorism and war. The same thing happened in 1965 as well.
Pakistan had started the war on its side by sending infiltrators to Kashmir. He hoped that the youth of Kashmir would take up arms in support of Pakistan and revolt against India. but that did not happen. On 6 September 1965, India also retaliated and opened a front.
In this battle, Pakistan had to face defeat. But now how do you accept the truth in front of your own countrymen? So it was decided that the stories of victory and strength would be told to the Pakistani people. One story after another. It is said that during the war and even after the war, many times the Pakistani government itself used to spread such stories, so that people would feel that they were winning the war. There was also an anecdote in these stories in which it was said that Pakistani soldiers shot down fighter planes with three not three rifles.
Therefore the war was waged: Hussain Haqqani, former ambassador of Pakistan to the US, has written in his book ‘India vs Pakistan’ that the then Pakistani President General Ayub Khan was considering India weak. He believed that after the death of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, India had become weak and Lal Bahadur Shastri would not be able to do anything. At the same time, it was also believed that India is not in a position to wage any kind of war due to its defeat in the 1962 war with China. So in such a situation victory can be achieved by imposing war on him.
This war, which started from the Rann of Kutch, reached Kashmir, Amritsar and Lahore. For the first time, the Indian Army crossed the International Border and entered Pakistan. Under the leadership of Shastri, the Indian Army got a lot of success in this war and Pakistan had to face another shameful defeat.
At the time of the war, General Ayub Khan, the Pakistani President, had mentioned about the ‘devil powers present with India’ on the very first day. Stories of strange bravery were being published daily in Pakistani media. There was also mention of divine help in these stories. There is one such anecdote in which it was claimed that when Indian soldiers reached Sialkot with tanks, Pakistani soldiers lay down in front of Indian tanks with landmines on their bodies. Due to which Indian tanks were destroyed.
The strangest story is that Pakistani soldiers shot down Indian Air Force fighter planes with a simple rifle three-not-three. During the war, many claimed to have seen with their own eyes how angels clad in green cloaks diverted the bombs that were about to fall on mosques.
However, the poles of these fake stories of Pakistan were slowly opening up with the defeat. Still, the trust of the people in the government remained so that more such new stories were being spread in one form or the other.
However, after the end of the war, the Pakistani people started to understand its reality. In this battle, 3800 soldiers of Pakistan were killed and hundreds of tanks, many fighter aircraft were also destroyed.
