The film Outsiders brings together seven young men embodying thugs with a rock look: raised collars, denim jackets or leather jackets. For most of them, it was their first film experience. A generation of young actors with a very promising future, we thus find Emilio Estevez, Rob Lowe, Ralph Macchio, Matt Dillon, C. Thomas Howell, Patrick Swayze, and Tom Cruise. And they have changed a lot as shown in our image of the day below, showing their quickdraws during the filming of the film:

The story takes place in Tulsa, a small town in Oklahoma, Ponyboy, and Sodapop live without parents, under the responsibility of their big brother Darrel. Their house is dilapidated and serves as a refuge for their gang of Greasers, delinquents from the slums. They attack the Socs, or daddy’s boys with always clean shirt collars. One evening, Ponyboy and Johnny, a friend of the gang, return later: they met and sympathized with Cherry (Diane Lane), the girlfriend of the leader of the Socs. The latter, dissatisfied, wishes revenge and Johnny, by wanting to save Ponyboy, kills one of the Socs. Serious trouble begins …

Tom Cruise has a funny memory of the shooting of the film, in fact he was sick because of a repeated sequence too many times. To learn more about it, it’s here.
