Ryan Gosling celebrates his 42 years and we remember how he lived his love story with the protagonist of The Notebook. Look what the actor said after the separation from him!
In 2004premiered the film that would mark a before and after in the romantic genre: The Notebook. Based on the novel of the same name by Nicholas Sparks, Diary of a passion – as it was translated in Latin America – was carried out by Rachel McAdams Y ryan gosling, who today celebrates his 42 years. But the love story was not only fictional, since the duo also became a couple in real life. How were those years?
Directed by Nick Cassavetes, the feature film introduces Allie and Noah, two lovers destined to be together but constantly in conflict. “In this story of the reunion of a lost love, two ordinary people are made extraordinary by the strength, power and beauty of true love.“, indicates the synopsis released by hbo max, a streaming platform that offers the film in its catalog. And it’s not too far from what really brought Gosling and McAdams together as they embodied these characters.
The director himself recounted in an interview with VH1 the tension that was experienced during filming: “They didn’t get along for a single day on set. As 150 people were standing in a big scene, Ryan came to me and said, ‘Would you get Rachel out of here and get another actress to read with me off camera? I can’t do it with her, I don’t get none of this‘” However, two years later they met again in New York and discovered that they could give each other a second chance and build a bond beyond the professional.
“Our relationship was not something that either of us expected to come out of that movie experience. This shows that you can create chemistry on screen by telling the audience that two people love each other.“, explained Rachel McAdams in dialogue with The Times. However, the relationship of this iconic Hollywood couple did not extend too much: although they began dating in 2005, by 2007 their bond was already very weak.
Why did you break up? Ryan Gosling himself stated in conversation with GQ: “When both people are in show business, it’s too much show for romantic relationships. Everything is taken over by the lights, so nothing can grow from there.”. Although they have been separated for more than a decade, for lovers of romantic movies they will always be one of the best couples of recent times.
