Many people love the rain because of the sound and the tranquility it transmits, but it can become your worst ally if you’re in a hurry and you don’t have the right shoes for the weather or, if you do, you’re prone to slipping on wet floors. Are there ways to avoid this mishap? Of course, and here mag we bring you some homemade tricks so that the shoes do not slip.
One of the most effective methods is to use hairspray, but it is not the only one. In the following lines we bring you five economic alternatives with basic household ingredients. Take note to avoid taking a good hit or scare.
Tricks to prevent shoes from slipping in the rain
1. Sand the sole
Sanding the sole is one of the most effective methods. For this home hack, take some fine-grit sandpaper and gently rub the sole until you feel a slight smoothness.
What comes next? Pass the sandpaper over the sole with smooth and, at the same time, circular movements. The front area of the plant should be a priority to avoid falls or slips.
2. Rub with a potato
Rub with a potato? Although it sounds hard to believe, it is a very effective and recommended home trick. Surely you have noticed that when cutting and peeling a potato a white liquid is released, this substance is called starch.
For this method, cut a potato in half, then press it down a bit to release the starch and rub the potato against the bottom of your shoes. Wait for it to take effect, that is, to dry up, and walk carelessly through the streets.
Hairspray is a great alternative on rainy days. While true, it does the same job as anti-slip sprays, this lasts a little less.
The first step will be to brush the sole of your shoe, then clean the sole with a semi-damp cloth. So far so good? Now wait for it to dry completely. Finally, apply the lacquer for 10-15 seconds without stopping and that will be it.
4. Nail file
The nail file is also a great solution when you’re in a hurry and it’s raining. If your shoes are new or have smooth soles, use a nail file. The reason? When filing the sole, what we do is create porosity or fine grooves that prevent the shoe from slipping and, therefore, avoid shameful acts.
5. Stick adhesive tape on the sole
For this trick, cut a few small pieces of adhesive tape and carefully glue it to the sole. If you don’t want someone to find out, you can paint the adhesive tape with a marker the color of the sole. The cuts will serve as anti-slip.
