House of Gucci, Jared Leto: "At first Al Pacino didn’t recognize me on set"

Jared Leto recounted the first meeting on the set of House of Gucci with Al Pacino, while he was unrecognizable in the role of Paolo Gucci.

Jared Leto he told the hilarious meeting with Al Pacino on the set of House of Gucci, while he was dressed and made up like the character of Paolo Gucci. Such was his transformation that Al Pacino he did not recognize him at all.

Jared Leto revealed the funny anecdote during a guest on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. In the film, which reconstructs the murder of Maurizio Gucci at the hands of the principals of his ex-wife, Patrizia Reggiani, Jared Leto plays Paolo Gucci while Al Pacino plays Aldo Gucci, the eldest son of the founder of the fashion house Guccio Gucci. Leto revealed that on the first day of shooting he showed up dressed as Paolo Gucci and greeted Al Pacino, 81, with an Italian accent:

“I showed up for the first day of work in character, I went up and said ‘dad’ with an accent. He looked at me, said ‘Dad’, and then walked away from me. I thought ‘Maybe he’s a guy. grumpy. ‘I repeated’ Dad, it’s me, Paul ‘and he walked away again as if he thought’ Who is this worm? ‘”

Eventually someone whispered in Al Pacino’s ear that the mystery man was Jared Leto. “So he turned true to me and said ‘Oh, my son! My son!”.

Leto also talked about what it was like working with Scott, who he called one of the “best directors in the world”: “He can do anything from alien to gladiator to martian. He’s directed some of my favorite films of all time.”.

House of Gucci will be released in Italian cinemas on December 16, 2021.
