Hollywood legend makes Marvel reveal: Bill Murray plays MCU villain

Marvel fans can look forward to a very special addition to “Ant-Man 3”. Because a real Hollywood legend becomes a villain.

Marvel fans have had to wait three years for a new “Ant-Man” movie. Fortunately, the production of „Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania“ has been in full swing for a long time. What the audience will expect in the film still remains a secret. The fact that quite a few actors from the first two films will be missing also caused confusion. But this also creates space for new figures.

The film will be a Hollywood star as a new entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) Bill Murray greet. The actor, who is mainly known from funer roles such as “Groundhog Day” and “Ghostbusters”, becomes the villain for “Ant-Man 3”. That goes from an interview with Murray on “The Eli Manning Show” (via /Film). There the presenter asked him about his superpower in the Marvel movie: “My skill is that I am a bad guy. “Unfortunately the actor didn’t reveal more.

In “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” we could expect a lot of villains: There would be Kang the Conqueror (Jonathan Majors), but MODOK and inventor Darren Cross (Corey Stoll) should also be there. Until we find out what is really behind Murray’s character, we will certainly have to be patient and look forward to these film highlights:

Bill Murray plans to not become an integral part of the MCU

In an interview with the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung a few months ago, he revealed that Hollywood legend Bill Murray will star in a Marvel film, thereby breaking the confidentiality obligation associated with such large projects as MCU films:

When asked if he only works with directors he is friends with, Murray revealed that he dared to act in a Marvel film:

“You know, I recently made a Marvel movie. I probably can’t tell you about it, but it doesn’t matter. In any case, some people were quite surprised why I decided on such a project of all things. But for me it was clear: I met the director – and I really liked him. He was funny, humble, everything you want from a director. And with the cheerleading story ‘Bring It On – Girls United’, years ago he made a film that I think is damn good. So I accepted, even though I’m not otherwise interested in these huge comic adaptations as an actor. “

Bill Murray hadn’t said which Marvel movie it was, but it could only be “Ant-Man 3”. Because “Girls United”, like the “Ant-Man” films, comes from Peyton Reed. For Marvel fans who are happy about Murray’s participation, there is the bad news: The actor does not want to become a regular cast in the MCU:

“Let’s put it this way: the director is a good guy and now I’ve at least tried what it’s like to make a Marvel movie. But I don’t think I need this experience a second time.

The third “Ant-Man” film, which could actually also be called “Ant-Man and the Wasp 2”, will once again unite the two eponymous heroes Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) and Hope van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly) on the screen. This time, however, Scott’s daughter Cassie (Kathryn Newton) also seems to play an important role. The Marvel movie will be released on July 26, 2023 launch in US cinemas.
