Heritage Days 2022 at the Château de Chantilly: fabulous shows and exhibitions

Experience a royal weekend at the Château de Chantilly, on September 17 and 18, 2022, on the occasion of Heritage Days. Many family activities await you in this jewel of Renaissance style.

Originally built to be a medieval fortress, enlarged, embellished, destroyed, rebuilt… The Chantilly castle has gone through the centuries and has undergone many transformations! Today, this magnificent estate, located in theoiseis a place sightseeing very popular with people who are passionate aboutart and D’Story.

This princely residence has long welcomed the nobles and crowned heads of the family of Bourbon-Conde. You can always admire the large apartments and the private apartments that served French princes. But the Château de Chantilly is also known for its impressive cabinet of booksas well as for his museum beautifully decorated.

The estate overlooks a large Park, consisting of various landscaped gardens, including a French garden designed by Ours ! The renowned gardener even confided that his work produced in Chantilly was his favourite. Don’t miss the most great princely stables of Europe and the horse museum, which regularly host shows equestrian.

  • The Rock of Treasures, Episode II
    On September 17 and 18, 2022, don’t miss the new edition of Chantilly, the Rock of Treasures, Episode II! Immerse yourself in a whirlwind of majestic scenery and let the Duke of Aumale guide you through 200 years of history. A grandiose and contemporary sound and light show that combines breathtaking videos, music and fireworks! A unique experience to discover with family or friends!

  • Exceptional presentation in the Galerie de Psyché of the restoration of the portraits of the Duke and Duchess of Aumale found
    The Château de Chantilly celebrates its last owner, the Duke of Aumale on the occasion of the bicentenary of his birth. Despite the bequest of the Prince’s personal collections to the Institut de France, no full-length youthful portrait of Henri d’Orléans (1822-1897), fifth son of King Louis-Philippe (1773-1850), appeared in the reserves of the Condé museum.
    However, two important paintings, one representing the Duke of Aumale, and the second, his wife Marie-Caroline de Bourbon-Siciles (1822-1869), have been rediscovered in the collections of the Palace of Versailles and authenticated. They are presented to the public for the first time in more than a century. Come and discover their romantic history and the stages of their restoration, supported by the Friends of the Condé Museum.
  • Albrecht Dürer, Engraving and Renaissance
    For the first time, the Château de Chantilly is hosting two major collections of works by Dürer in France, that of the Condé museum in Chantilly and that of the National Library of France.
    Included in the 1-day ticket and the Family ticket.

  • Clouet, at the Court of the little Valois
    Let’s celebrate the reunion between brothers and sisters, little princes and young princesses of the French Renaissance!
    Exhibition included in the 1-day ticket and the Family ticket.
    Location: Castle / Cabinet of graphic arts
  • Pioneers of printed books
    The Book Cabinet offers an immersion into the typographical workshops of the great Germanic cities of the Renaissance where the printed matter revolution unfolded and where Dürer invented the artist’s book.
    Exhibition included in the 1-Day ticket and the Family ticket at no extra charge.

  • Speaking points of the Friends of the Condé Museum
    The Association of Friends of the Condé Museum was founded on April 30, 1971. This association currently brings together more than 3,300 members, it is one of the largest associations of museum friends in France. He is above all the first patron of the Condé museum for the restoration of works and acquisitions. Members of the Friends of the Condé-Château de Chantilly Museum will come to present to you the various missions of the association such as, for example, making known the Château de Château de Chantilly and the collections of the Condé museum.
  • Animation around whipped cream
    Attention foodies! From 12 p.m. to 5 p.m., the Confrérie des Chevaliers Chantilly Cream Whippers will offer visitors to the Château de Chantilly various demonstrations around the famous Chantilly cream. The opportunity to discover and taste delicious choux à la Chantilly or even a good cup of strawberries à la Chantilly. Various products will be offered for sale!
  • Great Stables, under the dome
    • Horse riding
      September 17 at 2:30-3:00 p.m. and 4:30-5:30 p.m.
      During this 30-minute commented presentation, a rider explains the basics of riding and reveals some secrets of horse education from the simplest to the most sophisticated exercises, such as those known as high school ones, then a second rider offers a rehearsal with commentary and music of a show number.

    • TOTEM horse show
      September 18 at 2:30 p.m.
      A show of all colors, a real “celebration” told by the eight riders of the Compagnie équestre des Grandes Écuries, their thirty horses, donkeys and ponies, three dancers and a vaulter, which will take you on a journey to meet riders from around the world and vanished civilizations: Aztecs, Amerindians, Mongols, Scythians, Indians, horsewomen from Abyssinia…
