An agreement has been reached between the Karnal administration and the farmers. The farmers have agreed when the strike is over. There will be a judicial inquiry into the lathi charge. SDM Ayush Sinha will be on leave during the investigation. Two families of the deceased farmer will get government jobs in a week. In this way, the three-day standoff outside the mini secretariat of Karnal has now ended.
In the meeting held between Karnal administration and farmer leaders on Saturday, it was decided that there would be a judicial inquiry into the lathi charge on farmers in Karnal. This investigation will be under the supervision of a retired judge of the High Court.

According to sources, the terms of the agreement were almost fixed between the Karnal administration and the farmers on Friday evening itself. But a meeting was held between the farmer leaders and the administration on Saturday morning for their formal announcement. In this meeting, 13 farmer leaders had reached under the leadership of Gurnam Singh Chaduni. After this meeting, the siege of the Karnal Mini Secretariat, which has been going on since 7 September, has ended.

On August 28, the police lathi-charged the farmers at the Bastara toll plaza. Sushil Kajal, a farmer of Raipur Jatan village of Karnal, was injured in the police lathi charge. According to the United Kisan Morcha, on August 28, the then SDM Ayush Sinha had directly ordered the police to break the heads of the farmers.
This was the demand of farmers
The demand of the farmers is that SDM Ayush Sinha should be sacked and a case of murder should be registered against him. Rs 25 lakh to the family of the farmer Sushil Kajal who died, a government job to his son and Rs 2 lakh each to the farmers who were injured in the police violence.
Mahapanchayat was called on 7th September
The farmers had called a Mahapanchayal in Karnal on 7 September on this issue. As soon as it was over, the farmers moved towards the grain market. There it was announced that a sit-in was to be held at the Mini Secretariat. The administration tried to stop the farmers but did not take the path of confrontation. By evening, the farmers surrounded the secretariat and called the dharna indefinite.
Internet was banned
During this time the internet was kept closed in Karnal by the state government. Internet service was banned in Karnal as well as in Kaithal, Kurukshetra, Panipat and Jind districts in view of the farmers’ agitation of 7 September. Internet services have been suspended in Karnal since then. But the ban was later lifted in other districts.
