While other cast members in the Harry Potter series appear to be struggling to leave their career-defining roles behind, others just can’t seem to get enough of the magical world.

Something is happening again in the magical world of “Harry Potter”. The new CEO of Warner Bros. Discovery, David Zaslav, recently made it publicly clear that he wants to expand his company’s major brands and also mentioned the possibility of producing new “Harry Potter” films. Mind you, he was talking about “Harry Potter” films, the “Fantastic Beasts” series, on the other hand, is probably history as expected, because even more than half a year after the theatrical release of the moderately successful third part called “Dumbledore’s Secrets”, there is no other Spinoffs are currently in the works, according to a Variety report. That can hardly be a good sign.
But fans of the magical world can hope that more movies will come. According to a rumor, the studio is currently interested in adapting the play “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child”, which means that we can expect a continuation of the well-known story in the movie theaters of this world. The question is, of course, which of the previous actors would revive their roles. At least if those in charge want to fall back on Lord Voldemort, they obviously don’t need to look for a new actor.
Ralph Fiennes, who impressively embodied the Dark Lord in four “Harry Potter” films, reacted at the premiere of his new film “The Menu” (German cinema release: November 17, 2022) in New York with a corresponding statement. At the request of Varietyon whether he would play Voldemort again, he said: “Sure, of course. This is not a question.”
A “Harry Potter” series is also said to be in the works:
Will Ralph Fiennes return in The Cursed Child?
The question then is to what extent Voldemort could play a role in future Harry Potter projects. The play “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” travels back in time to critical moments in the series and, through decisive changes, even ensures that Voldemort is more powerful than ever. However, the Dark Lord himself does not have a large part in the play. Of course, that could be changed to include Ralph Fiennes in a possible film adaptation, and it’s not hard to imagine that those responsible would jump at the chance when Fiennes himself is so openly offering his participation.
However, the statement by David Zaslav mentioned at the beginning also indicates that Warner, in typical modern Hollywood fashion, is considering any possible “Harry Potter” projects. To get the most out of Ralph Fiennes, a title that explores Voldemort’s rise and his original reign of terror would be best. A film series would be conceivable here (Zaslav rather wants to get away from series) that accompanies the evil magician and his followers and the resistance over several years, whereby Ralph Fiennes could then embody the adult Voldemort. Whether the world needs such a project and whether Warner Bros. considers it lucrative at all are other questions, of course, especially since Ralph Fiennes, who is almost 60 years old, is not getting any younger either…
