It’s official: the Potterheards will indeed be entitled to a special reunion Harry Potter to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the saga. The appointment is given on HBO Max: on January 1, 2022, fans will be able to taste a little magic again. Of course, the actors who marked the adventures ofHarry Potter in attendance: Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint will share anecdotes and memories during the event. They will be accompanied by Tom Felton (Drago Malfoy), Helena Bonham Carter (Bellatrix Lestrange), Ralph Fiennes (Voldemort), Gary Oldman (Sirius Black) but also the director of the first two films, Chris Columbus. However, among all these celebrities announced, one name is missing: that of JK Rowling, the author of the Harry Potter books. Was she left out of the project?
According to le Daily Mail, the author will not be part of the adventure for several reasons. Sources close to the project indicated that the special meeting would focus on the creation of the first film in the company of the actors and the main members of the production. His absence would however be justified by his controversial tweets, which had made the front page of the tabloids in June 2020. Indeed, JK Rowling was surprised at the use in an article of the term “person having menstruation” rather than simply “women” in the name of inclusiveness. Very quickly, she was therefore accused of transphobia by most LGBT activists but also by several actors. such as Emma Watson and Daniel Radcliffe, who had dissociated themselves from his remarks.
Subsequently, the author had once again suffered the wrath of Internet users after publishing her book Troubled Blood, featuring a transvestite killer. Many readers had accused her of conveying her transphobic views. So many reasons that could justify the absence of JK Rowling from this special meeting, even if HBO or even the main concerned did not speak about it. Until we find out more, here’s what to expect from the big Back to Hogwarts reunion!
