Harry Potter and the Cursed Child movie is a terrible idea

The Harry Potter franchise is one of the most iconic in cinema, but still Warner Bros couldn’t make Fantastic Beasts hit.

Now, under the command of David Zaslav, the company wants to invest in works about the little wizard directly, but an adaptation of The Cursed Child would be a terrible idea.

Continues after advertising

And while more Harry Potter on the big screen looks great for fans, adapting a stage play isn’t the way to go.

Warner Bros. desperately needs new Harry Potter material, but adapting this piece is a bad idea. Let’s see why now.

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is not the way to go

First introduced in 2016, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is the continuation of the original story, taking place nineteen years after The Deathly Hallows, focusing on Harry’s son, Albus Potter.

If Warner Bros. seeks to continue its Harry Potter franchise without delving into the Wizarding World spinoffs, The Cursed Child is the most obvious way forward.

However, this strategy may not bring lost fans running back to Hogwarts, as critical reception to the play has proven to be mixed amidst comparisons to glorified fanfic.

As such, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child will not fix the franchise’s problems.

Also, Warner needs a movie series, or a TV series and not a self-contained story and that’s the case with The Cursed Child.

The Harry Potter films are on HBO Max🇧🇷
