‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’: James Gunn denies casting Jennifer Holland in the sequel

In his Twitter profile, the director James Gunn denied the escalation of Jennifer Holland to the cast of ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3‘, saying that it was all a misunderstanding.

A few days ago, the public believed that Holland would have a role in the feature because Gunn shared a picture of her alongside Zoe Saldanato Gamora, and wrote:

“Zoe was with us, but the only photo I have of her is with an unannounced actress [Holland].”

It turns out that Holland is girlfriend of Gunn and was just following behind the scenes of the sequel.

While denying the information, the director admitted that the misunderstanding was his fault, due to the ambiguity of the publication.

Sharing a headline on the matter, he wrote:

“Actually, I haven’t confirmed this, but I have to partially take the blame. I realized the moment I posted the photo that my tweet was very poorly written.”

At the time, he had also shared an image along with the main cast, which reinforced the rumors.

“And that’s the end of the ‘Guardians of the Galaxy‘. I love this amazing cast and crew, as well as their beautiful talent and kind souls. I am a lucky human being to have them on this journey with me for nearly a decade.”

Previously, Karen Gillan shared an image of the glove used to give the mechanical effect on Nebula’s arm.

However, what caught the most attention in the publication is the caption, in which the star says he does not know if the character will continue in the MCU after the sequel.

Check out:

“And that’s a recording finale for Nebula in ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3‘! I don’t know if she will return after that, it’s possible this will be her final chapter. And if that’s the case then I just want to thank Jlove Gunn for giving me such an interesting, complex and fascinating character to play. I enjoyed this exploration more than any other character I’ve played. It was an incredible decade. Thank you for watching…”

Gillan had already revealed that Nebula will undergo major changes, even more so now that Thanos is dead.

“One of the most interesting things about Nebula, for me, was her relationship with her father and sister.”she said in an interview with io9. “And now that her father Thanos is dead, he was the source of all the torment and abuse she suffered. It’s really interesting to explore how this character starts to heal and who she starts to become, now that the threat that always haunted her is gone. So I’ve had a lot of fun with it.”

The star also revealed how long she’d like to live in Nebula, admitting she’s still obsessed with playing her.

“I really love my character. I’m obsessed with her. Honestly, I’m fascinated”she commented. “I think I have been very lucky. It’s a gift because she starts out as a villain and I had the opportunity to show her perspective and her point of view on things. I think it’s been six movies and I find her fascinating. All her family dynamics, her rise, the toxic, narcissistic family system. All the things I love to explore.”

Remembering that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3‘ hits theaters in May 23 of 2023.
