‘Grey’s Anatomy’ and ‘Station 19’ LOSE their showrunner

According to deadlinethe producer Krista Vernoff will step down as executive producer and showrunner of ‘Grey’s Anatomy‘ and the spin-off ‘Station 19‘ following the closure of the series’ current seasons.

“It has been a privilege to be tasked with managing Grey’s Anatomy for the past six years and Station 19 for the past four. The passion of the dedicated fans and the impact these series have made on our hearts and minds is immense. The amount of talent in these extraordinary casts and these two rooms of brilliant writers is incalculable, with these teams making magic week after week.”said Vernoff to the website.

After working on the first seven seasons of ‘Grey’s Anatomy‘, getting to be a writer and executive producer and then leave for other shows, vernoff returned to the medical drama as showrunner from the start of Season 14 in 2017 and spearheaded the series’ resurgence.

After vernoff assumed the ‘Station 19‘, the drama improved its ratings by double digits, a near impossible task amid the show’s steady decline.

After the departure of the series’ original creator and showrunner, Shonda Rhimes, vernoff has been the most influential writer and producer throughout the remaining seasons of gray’s. “Krista’s creativity, vision and dedicated leadership has allowed ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ and ‘Station 19’ to continue to flourish”said Rhimes.

ABC is still deciding who will replace Vernoffhowever, screenwriter Meg Marinis, who has been on the show since the beginning, is the top prospect. Krista Vernoff will be allocated to new productions by the station.
