“Godzilla vs. Kong 2” will probably fulfill a big fan request: title of monster sequel revealed

Filming on the next MonsterVerse movie has wrapped up. As crew members reveal, there will be the desired team-up that fans want to see.

Adam Wingard cracked the Godzilla code. He’s the first Western filmmaker to understand how the original giants of the Japanese kaiju genre can be made palatable to the rest of the world, or what it takes to keep MonsterVerse from looking like a niche project.

Sure, Gareth Edwards’ “Godzilla” was a hit in 2014, but it also had the advantage that there hadn’t been a movie with the giant lizard in ten years at the time. There was also the “exotic touch” of a US “Godzilla” film after Roland Emmerich went swimming with his version in 1998. However, Edwards put too much focus on the supporting characters – the people. That changed under Michael Doughtery with “Godzilla: King of the Monsters”, which was then designed too much for fan service.

Wingard managed to walk the fine line between fan service and mainstream spectacle, “Godzilla vs. Kong” was only slowed down by the corona pandemic and the hybrid release in the USA. So it’s no surprise that Wingard was hired directly for the sequel. This is scheduled to hit US cinemas on March 15, 2024. Filming is now apparently wrapped up in Australia, as evidenced by gifts given to the cast and crew members. And the best thing about it: The published pictures point to the alleged official title of the sequel:

It makes you want to watch Godzilla vs. Kong again. Or just gigantic monster fights, like in ours Video.

Godzilla and Kong: Together against a new and fearsome enemy

– Warning: Spoilers for “Godzilla vs. Kong” follow! –

Anyone who has seen the latest installment of the MonsterVerse will know that at the end of Godzilla vs. Kong, Godzilla and King Kong, who initially bashed each other’s heads, must join forces to defeat the mecha-Godzilla threat in Hong Kong to get Kong out of the way. It was finally a final that more than lived up to its name. Some of the audience really freaked out. The idea that Godzilla and King Kong will face off against a common enemy in the best tag team manner in the next monster film should not only delight fans. After all, it must be a massive threat for the two narrow-minded Supreme Titans to realize that they can only survive together.

There was also a new monster film from the home country of Japan with “Shin Godzilla”, which you can stream via Amazon

who that in “Godzilla and Kong” will be, of course, is the big question and will probably – if at all – only be hinted at shortly before the theatrical release. The new enemy is described as a threat not only to humans but also to the Kaijus. Is the new enemy even from Earth? Questions about the origin of the Titans and the history of Skull Island will also be discussed.

Oh, and while they don’t really play much of a role, there are new people on board too. In this case, Dan Stevens (“I Am Your Human”), Fala Chen (“Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings”), Alex Ferns (“The Batman”), and Rachel House (“Where the Wild Men Hunt” ). Brian Tyree Henry, Rebecca Hall and Kaylee Hottle are back. It is not yet clear whether Millie Bobby Brown, Julian Dennison, Kyle Chandler and Alexander Skarsgard will return.
