The Summer Book, the famous Finnish book, will become a feature film that will be able to count on the presence of Glenn Close and Anders Danielsen in its cast.
Glenn Close (recently also involved in a serial project) e Anders Danielsen Lie will star in the film version of The Summer Book, the novel signed by Tove Jansson. To exclusively report the news was Deadlinesconfirming that this project will be directed and produced by Charlie McDowell under his Case Study Films.
According to what we know The Summer Book tells the story of a young girl and her grandmother, as they spend a summer on a tiny, untouched island in the Gulf of Finland. The great success that this novel has achieved has led it to be translated into 35 different languages since its first publication in 1972 (50 years ago).
The adaptation starring Glenn Close and Anders Danielsen Lie will be handled by Robert Jones, with production starting this summer in Finland.

The director added: “I have always dreamed of working with Glenn Close. I admire his attention, his immense versatility and deeply captivating presence both on stage and on screen. Instead, I discovered Anders Danielsen Lie through collaborations with Joachim Trier and he immediately became one of my favorite Scandinavian actors. I can’t imagine a more magnificent duo to collaborate with on this film.”.

The producers of the project are Kath Mattock for Stille productions, Kevin Loader for Free Range Films, Duncan Montgomery for High Frequency Entertainment, Aleksi Bardy for Helsinki Film and McDowell and Alex Orlovsky for Case Study Films, with Jack Selby for High Frequency, Arthur Farache and Victoria Castelli for Hurst Capital and Collins for Case Study Films, as executive producers.
