With “Ghostbusters: Legacy” director Jason Reitman follows in the footsteps of his father Ivan and makes the impossible possible: A nostalgic sequel that doesn’t shy away from breaking new ground.
Am 18. November “Ghostbusters: Legacy” finally starts in German cinemas. We met director Jason Reitman (“Up in the Air”) and the stars of the sci-fi comedy in an interview. Why Reitman is following in the footsteps of his father, “Ghostbusters” director Ivan Reitman, after decades, whether Finn Wolfhard and Co. would return for a sequel and why no one in the Sexiest Man Alive cast would call Paul Rudd if something strange happened Neighborhood happens, you can find out in the video:

“Ghostbusters Legacy 2”: Is Jason Reitman planning a sequel?
The young stars from “Ghostbusters: Legacy” (in the original: “Ghostbusters: Afterlife”) are definitely up for a sequel and director Ivan Reitman doesn’t seem averse to the whole thing. He doesn’t necessarily see himself as an executive director: “I hope that ‘Ghostbusters: Legacy’ paves the way for all kinds of ‘Ghostbusters’ films from all of our favorite directors.”
Perhaps the film will open up a whole new “Ghostbusters” universe in which all sorts of characters go on ghost hunting. A mix of diverse talents on the director’s chair could create new opportunities for the franchise. Jason Reitman, best known for his indie films (“Juno”, “Tully”), managed to pack nostalgia into new elements. He introduces new characters and sets the story in our time, while also reviving his father’s legacy. A masterful balancing act that you take off 18. November experience yourself in the cinema.
“Ghostbusters: Legacy 2: Are the Cast Coming Back?
As already mentioned, it is not yet clear whether there will be a sequel to “Ghostbusters: Legacy”. Fans shouldn’t give up hope though – that the cast would return easily is a good sign.
It is possible that a decision on a possible continuation will only be made when the first box office results are certain. As always, you will find new information about the sequel at this point.
