Ivana Trump: Your children and grandchildren say goodbye
As columnist R. Couri Hay, who has known Ivana Trump for more than 40 years, revealed to US magazine “People” before the funeral service, Ivana’s children have Ivanka Trump, 40, Donald Trump Jr., 44, and Eric Trump, 38, attended the funeral. Pictures show the siblings with their partners and children arriving in front of the church.
Donald Trump’s 76-year-old daughter Tiffany, 28, from his second marriage to actress Marla Maples, 58, also attended the funeral service with her fiancé Michael Boulos, 24.
Donald and Melania Trump are late
It was unclear until the ceremony whether Trump would be accompanied by wife Melania Trump, 56, although the couple is currently in New York. Donald and Ivana were married from 1977 to 1992. “She was a wonderful, beautiful and amazing woman who lived a great and inspiring life,” the ex-president said in an official statement after Ivana’s death.
Now it is clear that Trump also paid his last respects to his ex-wife – accompanied by Melania. But: The couple came too late according to “Bild”. Because while Ivana Trump’s children and other guests were standing on the street at well over 30 degrees while her coffin was being carried into the church, Donald and Melania were still sitting in the middle of a car convoy. Only ten minutes later did the couple enter the church through a side entrance.
Melania and Ivana are said to have never gotten along well, in 2017 Ivana even publicly lashed out at her husband’s new wife in a “Good Morning America” interview. “But I hate to call the White House because Melania is there and I don’t want any jealousy about me. After all, I’m Trump’s first wife, okay? I’m the first lady, okay?” she said. Melania didn’t let that sit down and announced through her office: “There is obviously nothing to this statement by an ex, it is a regrettable case of craving for recognition […].”
According to R. Couri Hay, “people from all over the world” were flown in to say goodbye to Ivana Trump. In lieu of flowers, the family asked for donations to benefit Florida-based animal welfare organization Big Dog Ranch Rescue. The deceased had been involved with the association for years.
