Frankfurters and fresh eggs with salmonella, the Ministry of Health recalls some lots. Vomiting and diarrhoea: an infected child in Caserta

The alarm Salmonella it doesn’t stop. Already in recent months on the site of Ministry of Health several recall announcements had appeared for some batches of fresh eggs and frankfurters due to the presence of salmonella. Now, more are coming. The Ministry’s latest recommendation is clear: “Do not consume the product but take it back to the shop where it was purchased”.

The calls in question, this time, are three. The first recall concerns some batches of eggs from the Ovotri farm produced in Caldarola, in the province of Macerata: batch number 141122A expiring November 14, 2022, lot 181122A expiring on November 18, 2022 and lot 251122A expiring on November 25, 2022. The other recall concerns packs of “Copav” eggs, with the Aurora brand, produced in a factory in Falconara Marittima in the province of Ancona. A third recall concerns two batches of large Pazzaglia fresh eggs, produced in Budrio (Forlì-Cesena): 431001 And 441001. In the lots it was detected “Salmonella positivity enterica, on faeces sample of laying hens”.

Among the reminders there is also the lot 02/03/23L1 of frankfurters “Chicken and Turkey LeCock“, with the Scarlino brand and expiry date 2 March 2023, produced by the Scarlino srl salami factory, in Ugento, in the province of Lecce. Just a few days ago a child from Caserta, after eating sausages, had nausea, vomiting, fever, abdominal pain and diarrhea. LAsl of Caserta, having detected the case of salmonella, he immediately withdrew the batch of frankfurters from the supermarkets. “Confirmation of the cause of the food poisoning – reads the note from the ASL – was obtained following official samples taken on frankfurters by the veterinary services and sent to the Istituto Zooprofilattico del Mezzogiorno. These are “Scarlino” chicken and turkey Lecock sausages in packs of 10 units of 100 grams each with batch/expiry date 02/03/23L1, produced by the Scarlino srl salami factory in Taurisano (Lecce) and distributed in many sales outlets in the area of Campania and the province of Caserta”.
