Torrential rains in southwestern British Columbia last Sunday and Monday caused landslides and flooding, which destroyed roads and infrastructure. In particular, the Trans Mountain pipeline, crucial to Alberta’s oil industry, has been temporarily closed.

The Royal Gendarmerie (RCMP, federal police) confirmed on Saturday that three men, missing since Monday, were found lifeless near Lac Duffy.

“We continued our search for a fourth man, but the weather conditions and the inventory made our efforts difficult,” said Sergeant Janelle Shoihet in a statement from the RCMP.

These three deaths bring the deaths from these floods to four. The lifeless body of a woman was indeed found on Monday near a mudslide that washed away a large section of a highway
