Everything could have been so beautiful: Minister of Finance Christian Lindner and journalist Franca Lehfeldt wanted to exchange vows in a romantic setting in Tuscany. Now the couple has to make do with Germany.
It should be the happiest day of your life. Now the wedding plans of Federal Finance Minister Christian Lindner and political journalist Franca Lehfeldt are idle. As the “Bunte” reveals, the dream couple of German politics wanted to give their guests an unforgettable evening on a romantic country estate in Italy in July. In a small chapel, 20 kilometers northeast of Lucca, the two should step in front of the altar.
The Italian countryside in Tuscany is popular for weddings. It is particularly characterized by the many olive trees, pines and vines, the city of Lucca offers a very special ambience with its large squares, traditional churches and medieval towers.
But now the wedding cannot take place as planned – at least not in Italy. Instead, we celebrate on Sylt. The “Bunte” cites security reasons as an explanation for this. As a member of the federal government, Christian Lindner needs special personal protection, and the Federal Criminal Police Office in Tuscany apparently cannot guarantee that for him and his guests.
Romantic proposal to the Greek
Lindner and Lehfeldt have been a couple since 2018. According to RTL, they got engaged in mid-September among friends and family on Lehfeldt’s 32nd birthday. In the Berlin Greek scene “Cassambalis” there was said to be an intimate kiss at midnight, and after a personal speech Lindner then asked the question of questions. Franca Lehfeldt’s parents, her best friend and Heiner Bremer were able to take part in the special moment.
Christian Lindner was already married to Dagmar Rosenfeld, who is now the editor-in-chief of the daily newspaper “Die Welt”. In 2020 he divorced her. It will be Franca Lehfeldt’s first marriage.
