Flora Duffy conquers fourth world title in World Triathlon Series, Valérie Barthélémy thirteenth

The Bermudian Flora Duffy has secured the overall victory for the fourth time in the World Triathlon Series (WTS), the World Championship for triathletes. On Friday she put the crown on her work during the final round in Abu Dhabi.

The 35-year-old Duffy won the eighth and final round of the Olympic distance (1.5 km swim, 40 km bike and 10 km run) in 1h53:24. She beat the British Georgia Taylor-Brown (1h54:28) and the German Lena Meissner (1h55:59) and secured a fourth short distance world title in the final race, with double points. She previously succeeded in 2016, 2017 and 2021.

Valérie Barthélémy finished thirteenth on Friday in 1h58:34 (at 5:10 from Duffy), Jolien Vermeylen finished 33rd (2h00:49) and Claire Michel 38th (2h01:17).

Duffy totals 5,106 points in the final standings, Taylor-Brown is second with 5,081 points, American Taylor Knibb is third with 4,179 points. Barthelemy finishes in 34th (1,344), Vermeylen is 71st (393), Hanne De Vet 110th (179) and Claire Michel 111th (174).

Later this weekend the men will also be in action, with Jelle Geens and Noah Servais.
