The Crown Prince and Crown Princess are very popular in the Danish population.

But their popularity has suffered during the lengthy criticism of their relationship with the reviled boarding school Herlufsholm, new figures from the research institute YouGov show for BT.

And according to BT’s royal correspondent Jacob Heinel Jensen, this means that the crown prince couple must take care.

“The Crown Prince and Crown Princess are still furiously popular, but we can see from the numbers that there is movement. So they must not take their popularity for granted, because if they come out in a new shitstorm, then it can become really critical for the monarchy, “explains the royal house expert.

»The monarchy stands and falls with the crown prince couple, who are already drawing the royal house of the future. That is why their popularity is extremely important for the future of the monarchy, because that is how they can show both politicians and the people that they are worth the money. “

The Crown Prince Couple’s next move to regain their popularity must therefore be to strike the last – right – nail in the coffin in relation to the Herlufsholm case.

“The wisest thing they can do now is to make sure that Prince Christian and Princess Isabella get a proper education,” says Jacob Heinel Jensen.

For another study, which YouGov has done for BT, shows that the majority of Danes believe that the royal children should start at a public Danish high school when Prince Christian has completed his 1st grade at Herlufsholm Boarding School, and Princess Isabella still does not must start in 9th grade at school after summer vacation.

According to BT’s royal correspondent, it also indicates that the Danes will be at eye level with the royal family.

»The Danes would like a royal house that is not elitist but is down to earth and good at communicating. The key to survival will be greater openness instead of sticking your tail in the legs, “says the royal house expert.

The Crown Prince and Crown Princess are therefore facing a turning point.

Because at the same time as they have to worry more about the things that ordinary Danes get into, they also increase their own risk of stepping in the wrong way.

“They need to get better at navigating these cases. They really need to think about the value-political tree they have climbed into, because that means they can not only mean something, they must also behave accordingly. But if they can do both, they will win. “
